The Adventure Has Begun
Tonight, I wrote the first 15 pages of The Advent — and this time, it’s for real. The outline is making a huge difference, and while these 15 pages will be edited and revised, they’re not going to be scrapped so that I can start all over again. The thing about stories, it seems, is that they need somewhere to go. I’m really happy to be starting this one on its way.
My goal is 40-50 pages by the end of this week. Let’s see if I can hit it :).

Yay! Good for you – and I hope you hit your goal! I’m on the last leg of my (current) big project, so I can more-than-usually relate to the “buzz” of seeing your words take shape in a story … finally! *Smile!* I pray that God blesses you as you write!
P.S. Actually, this question is a little bit cheeky, so don’t feel like you “have” to reply! *Smile!* I’m just wondering, how do you write? I mean, do you write a certain number of words (or pages) each day or for a certain number of hours? Or do you just sit there, writing like crazy for as long as the inspiration lasts, forgetting to eat and sleep? I tend to write intensely for a couple of weeks, then step back and catch up on the rest of my life. I feel my approach is a little bit (alright, a BIG bit) undisciplined, but I find it hard to write a certain number of words or for a certain number of pages, because when the inspiration isn’t there I feel like I’m wasting my time and when the inspiration IS there I want to keep writing indefinitely! Any thoughts from your experience that you’re willing to share would be appreciated! *Smile!*
I set a page goal each day and write to hit it — right now the goal is 5-10 pages; it may get smaller when I start coaching again, since that takes up most of my day. Years ago, when I wasn’t running a freelance business, I would write much like you do, but I don’t have the option of letting the rest of my life lag anymore. I usually write in the evening, so if inspiration really strikes, sometimes I’ll keep going later than I normally would.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Thank you for answering my question. *Smile!* You say: “I usually write in the evening, so if inspiration really strikes, sometimes I’ll keep going later than I normally would.” Let’s just say … I can relate! *Smile!* But there’s something very satisfying about going to bed at 3 am, knowing that you’re ALL DONE with this book! At least, for me …
