Maggie (and me)
I wrote an article the other day on being self-published (coming to print soon, hopefully), with an expression of joy in my readers:
“Last week a young lady sent me a picture she drew of Maggie Sheffield, the main character in my fantasy novel Worlds Unseen. My characters are alive in other people’s heads. I have succeeded.”
And that’s really one of the things I love best about publishing my own work. Here’s the picture of Maggie, drawn by the Elisabeth of this recent blog post:
I’m putting it up in the Gallery as well. Check out the rest of the fan art there! I’ve also added a couple more pictures of me to the author gallery. One of them is me with Carolyn Currey, my cousin, cohort, and co-author. We appear to be having, if not exactly the War of the Roses, then perhaps the War of the Weeds, more Properly, the Queen Anne’s Lace.
P.S. Yay, I just remembered how to put this up in better quality! Task accomplished :).

Thanks again for posting my picture!
You are welcome! Thanks so much for sending it to me :).
HI Rachel,
A friend sent me your site. I am so impressed and delighted. My daughter is also homeschooled, and has had her first book published. I am wondering if you would
be interested in reviewing it, it is called, “Girls of Grace faith vs. fear” by Leah R. Eads
It is more of a fun Christian novel for pre-teens and teens but it is the first book I know of that deals with Crisis pregnancy centers and their needs and what they are all about.
She is wanting to make it a series, it is based on real characters from our real life
Christian Girlz Club, any encouragement for her would be terrific.
She has had it reviewed by several professional critics who have had many books published, they all say her ability to write in a conversational tone must be a natural
(God given as we say) talent. Also her ability to use so many characters and weave them in and out of a story that all comes together in a unique way.
Her ultimate goal in writing this book was to give girls something new to read and keep their interest, while getting them to search their hearts and stir up thought provoking ideas. She wants readers to go away with a deeper walk and committment to God as well as come to know Him if they don’t already.
Finally, to make people aware of the great needs of Crisis pregnancy centers
in this fictional story in a way that will touch people’s hearts and motivate them
to get involved.
It is Spiritual, loaded with scripture, funny in places, and can also make you shed a tear or two.
Rachel, you are such an inspiration and I thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas, testimony, and accomplishments that the Lord has allowed you to be fruitful
in.
Leah wrote her book when she was 14, she is now 16 and working on her second one. It was published when she was 15.
Blessings,
Carol Eads (mother of Leah, JJ, and Gideon)

Hi Carol,
I just emailed you a reply. The short answer is yes! I’m interested in reviewing work by young authors, and also in doing interviews/features on them. Anyone else out there who’s reading this: take note!
Wow what a blessing to see a W.O.G (woman of God) share so freely her heart, and to see the heritage coming to fruition, from parents living & giving it all to obey God’s commandment to bring up their children in the way of the Lord. I will be passing your site on to my dear sister & hubby with six homeschooled children, as well as any one I can who is ether curious or critical about homeschooling! You have alot of good things to say! I wish I had known what I do now about homeschooling when my oldest, now 26, was in K-5. I cannot look back & change the past, but can only be a voice of advocacy to the cause of Hmsc. God bless!
Thanks Yvonne! Please do pass my site on to anyone who might be encouraged by it. I am so grateful to my parents for homeschooling me, and I’m grateful to the Lord who has opened so many avenues for me to share His blessings.
